The Lexus marquee is a symbol of class and quality. If you own a Lexus and are looking to get a part replaced or are simply looking to improve the overall quality of your vehicle by purchasing accessories, a question you’re going to be asking yourself is whether you’re going to purchase Lexus OEM parts or aftermarket parts?
The question of acquiring OEM parts or aftermarket parts is a tough one to answer. The debate between the two sides is a never ending one. There are both advantages and disadvantages to both sides, and at the end of the day it will be you who decides what to purchase.
Lexus OEM parts or OEM parts in general tend to be pricier than there aftermarket counterparts. After all, the OEM parts are built with the sign of approval by the car’s manufacturers who naturally don’t want to be selling substandard parts for their vehicles, it would reflect badly on the quality of the vehicle that they sell and not just the parts.
On the other hand, Lexus aftermarket part manufacturers tend to sell parts at lower prices. And usually they are not at par with OEM equivalents in terms of quality. However, this does not mean that all aftermarket parts are substandard; chances are they simply won’t last as long, or perform as well as an original part. There are even unusual cases when aftermarket parts outclass their OEM counterparts. Aftermarket parts are reverse engineered from the finished output of the vehicle manufacturers. So there are times when aftermarket manufacturers actually see problems in OEM parts and are able to deal with them. So you may want to think twice about buying Lexus OEM parts.
There are a lot of considerations to make, but just to make sure it would be ideal for you as a buyer to do a little research before making a purchase. Check reviews online or in magazines whether or not a particular OEM part or aftermarket part is good or not. Whether there’s a cheaper alternative or a better option compared to the OEM part you’ve been considering buying. Knowing will greatly aid your decision in purchasing aftermarket parts or Lexus OEM parts.
